The Driver Fatigue Monitor (DFM) alerts drivers of dangerous, impending fatigue an hour before a dangerous accident. In simple terms it is a real time camera & computer that detects the drivers level of PERCLOS, which is an early sign of drowsiness. PERCLOS stands for Percent Eye Closure. The technical definition is “the percent of time a driver’s eyes are closed.” An audible alarm sounds when the unit detects that the driver is getting drowsy. Visual feedback shows you how long your eyes were closed.

Permanent installations: Through an optional serial port the DD850 can be connected for real-time driver monitoring, such as heavy mining equipment, or vibrating seat warnings options for tour and school coaches and other passenger carrying vehicles or vessels where the driver can be alerted without causing undue alarm to the passengers. Also, with the serial port version you can download up to 7 days worth of data that is stored in the unit.
